Recently a friend of mine asked me if I knew of any online courses that would help him become better with his online writing. Now, I’m no expert by any stretch of the imagination but I’ve stepped my game up recently thanks to some seriously, amazing material which I’m about to share with you below. Sound good? What is Copywriting?
The first thing you have to understand is “online writing” is better known as “Copywriting” in the industry. So what is copywriting? It’s the art of writing copy (aka words) that sells your product or service and persuades a potential client to buy from you.
To give you better perspective, read Neville Medora’s What is Copywriting article. I found Neville’s materials a long time ago but didn’t really realize what they were and how powerful they could be. But doing some recent research on how to write better blog posts, I found his stuff again and actually paid attention this time. I suggest you do the same!
What to Learn
After you read the first article, check out his full list of FREE resources that are chock full of so much great content, I’d suggest you save PDFs of everything in case he ever decides to start charging for that information.
Some of my favorite articles are (but I’ve read them all):
Now somewhere in his resources, he suggests you read all 25 chapters of The Boron Letters which is written by some guy named Gary Halbert. This dude is writing letters to his son from prison trying to teach his son how to be a great Copywriter like him. These are also full of great nuggets of information and I read every single word. Twice.
I along with Neville suggest you print each of those letters out and read them old school style. I’m made notes on all of mine and reference back to them often. And please do the homework he suggests, you’ll learn and retain the info sooo much faster. Deal?
Anything Else?
Nope! If you get through all of that, you’ll go from zero to 100 real quick! There are certainly other folks out there and other courses out there which will teach you how to be a better copywriter, but this is what I’ve found worked for me when I got started.
